Punjab Solar Panel Scheme
The wait is finally over! Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has officially started the Punjab Solar Panel Scheme. Under this program, 100,000 poor and deserving families in Punjab will receive free solar systems.
- Families using 100 units of electricity per month will get a 550-watt solar system for free.
- Families using up to 200 units per month will receive a 1100-watt solar system at no cost.

This article explains who can apply and how to register for the scheme introduced by the Punjab government. You can register online or by sending an SMS from your mobile phone while staying at home. Just follow the steps given in the article.
Eligibility Criteria
The following household users will be eligible:
- 50 units (lifeline)
- 51-100 units (lifeline)
- 0-100 units (protected)
- 0-100 units (non-protected)
- 101-200 units (protected)
- 101-200 units (unprotected)
Note that the eligibility of domestic consumers will be based on the bills for the month of June 2024. A consumer having sanctioned load up to 2 KW will be eligible.

How to Complete Registration in Punjab Solar Panel Scheme
You can complete your registration at home through the online web portal by following these steps:
- Open the Website
- Open a web browser on your phone or computer.
- Go to https://cmsolarscheme.punjab.gov.pk/.
- Start Registration
- Click the Register button to open the registration form.
- Fill Out the Form
- Enter the following details:
- Your Name
- Email Address
- Phone Number
- Identity Card Number
- Password (and confirm the password)
- Captcha Code (shown on the screen)
- After filling out the form, click the Register button.
- Enter the following details:
- Verify Your Email
- You will get a confirmation email.
- Open your email inbox and verify your account.
- Sign In
- After verifying your email, go back to the website.
- Log in using your email and password.
- Enter Electricity Bill Reference
- On the next page, enter your Electricity Bill Reference Number and click the Check button.
- The system will show your bill information.
- Review and Submit
- Confirm that the information is correct.
- Tick the box to accept the terms and conditions.
- Click the Submit button to complete your application.
That’s it! Your registration is now complete.
Details of Solar System Distribution
The Provincial Secretary for Energy explained the plan to the Chief Minister:
- Families using up to 100 electricity units per month will get 550-watt solar systems.
- Families using up to 200 electricity units per month will get 1,100-watt solar systems.
- The plan will be completed within one year.
Help for the People
The Chief Minister said that 7.3 million people in Punjab are already saving money with a Rs. 14 per unit discount on electricity. The solar program is another way to make sure public money is used to help citizens.
